The first version of V.A.Schnirelman's book was printed in 2001 in Osaka in English under the title of "The Value of the Past. Myths, Identity and Politics in Tran- scaucasia". There is hardly a need to explain why the author of "the value of the past" has presented the title of the book in the Rus- sian translation as "Wars of memory".
