The author of this recollection is Hidayat, prominent poet and playwright. He is one of those people who had unforgettable contacts with Mir Jalal, one of the coryphaes of the Azerbaijani literature of the 20th century, as his student and teacher in the art of literature. The author of the Present Book deals with his first acquaintance with Mir Jalal when he studied at the Faculty of Philology of Baku State University, when Mir Jalal headed the chair of the Azerbaijani literature. He speaks of the writer's principle and fair position in life, of his care for the author, of the interesting views of Mir Jalal as a scholar in literary criticism concerning the creative activity of Mahammad Fuzuli, Mirza Fatali Akhundov, Jalil Mammadgulu-zade, Samad Vurgun. He also shares the memories of Academician Kamal Talib-zade, People's Poet Nariman Hasan-zade, the writer's sons Academician Arif Pashayev, Professor Hafiz Pashayev, his granddaughter Professor Nargiz Pashayeva, and others about Mir Jalal. By quoting and interpreting some of Mir Jalal's sayings, the author has been able to create the striking and laconic image of the outstanding writer
